Jantien de Boer (1984) fuses reality and fantasy in her paintings. With her direct and accurate touch she knows how to portray both the power and the sensitivity of her models. The portraits and paintings of people in their environment are classical in structure and composition. The use of colour, the impressionistic touch and the performances are innovative and fresh to look at.
Jantien de Boer’s modern-classical work has been exhibited in various countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Denmark. Her paintings are included in museums and private collections around the world, from Australia to the United States. A painting by Jantien was recently purchased by the Drents Museum. In 2017 she was nominated for the prestigious Dutch Portrait Prize with no fewer than two paintings.
